VÚSH initiates cooperation with the Centre for Electron Microscopy of the Czech Academy of Sciences

Preparations for the 21st Euroseminar on Microscopy Applied to Building Materials (EMABM 2028) are continuing

Representatives of the Research Institute of Building Materials, a.s. (VÚSH) visited the Centre for Electron Microscopy at the Institute of Physics of Materials of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Brno, where they discussed possibilities for professional cooperation with Prof. Tomáš Kruml, the institute's director, and Ing. Petr Miarka, Ph.D.

The main topic of the meeting was the involvement of the Centre for Electron Microscopy in the EMABM 2028 program. We aim to offer seminar participants a specialized excursion to one of the most modern electron microscopy centers in Central Europe, which was put into operation in 2025. Visitors will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with state-of-the-art transmission and scanning electron microscopes, advanced material characterization methods, and the facilities of a top-tier research infrastructure.

The discussions also focused on possibilities for longer-term scientific cooperation between VÚSH and the Institute of Physics of Materials of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Specifically, the potential for utilizing the center's unique instrumentation in building materials research, advanced microstructural analysis, and joint research activities were discussed.

Brno currently represents an exceptionally strong electron microscopy ecosystem, connecting universities, research organizations, and globally significant manufacturers of electron microscopes. The involvement of the Centre for Electron Microscopy in the EMABM 2028 program will significantly enhance the seminar's professional level and offer participants a unique opportunity to gain insight into the facilities of one of the most modern workplaces of its kind in Europe.
